Speaking of famous tourist destinations around Tokyo, Kamakura and Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture, and Nikko in Tochigi prefecture can be mentioned. Nikko has a majestic Toshogu Shrine as seen in the top photo of this page. And as you can see in the picture above there is a wonderful national park. Lake Chuzenji surrounded by mountains is really beautiful.

Nikko Toshogu Shrine (Nikko city)

Yomeimon Gate in Toshogu Shrine, Nikko, Japan
Speaking of the finest traditional buildings around Tokyo, I first think of Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Toshogu is one of Japan’s world heritage sites. Its beauty is comparable to Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto.
Ashikaga Flower Park (Ashikaga city)

The wisteria flowers at Ashikaga Flower Park. Tochigi Prefecture
From late April to early May, when the cherry blossoms have finished blooming, wisteria flowers are at their peak in Japan. Ashikaga Flower Park is the flower park with the most wisteria flowers in Japan. The wisteria flowers blooming on the 100,000 m² site will be illuminated by LEDs and glow beautifully after the evening. The tunnel of wisteria flowers is also wonderful.
